First product / WING

A Wet WDT Tool for the bloom phase.

WING began with an exploration of Wet Weiss Distribution during pour-over coffee. Through brewing experiments, research and repeated prototyping, the concept became a tool designed around a more gentle interaction with the coffee bed.

Purpose

A gentle bloom-phase tool

WING is designed for pour-over coffee brewing during the bloom phase: gently disturbing the coffee bed, helping disperse dry clumps and promoting more even wetting.

Material

316 stainless steel

The current object uses 316 stainless steel, a sandblasted surface and laser engraving.

Iteration

47 laser prototypes

The first batch and first 100 users informed the second production version.

Method

Experiment. Design. Make.

OCL does not create objects simply because they can be manufactured. We create tools because there is a better way.

01

Question

Why does this brewing step work this way? Could it be more consistent, simpler, more intuitive or better made?

02

Experiment

We brew, prototype, change dimensions, reconsider materials, study manufacturing processes and test again.

03

Make

The final object needs a reason to exist, a problem to solve, thoughtful engineering and careful manufacturing decisions.

Design philosophy

Original tools should earn their place.

Every product begins with a question. We research, prototype, modify, test and refine until an idea becomes an object we want to use ourselves.

The result should be practical, carefully made and useful to the brewing process without unnecessary complexity.

No shortcuts. No unnecessary complexity. Just good questions, careful experiments, and objects worth keeping.

Material tests / balance notes / daily brewing

The lab is part of the product.

Future space for development notes, experiments, manufacturing studies and the decisions behind new OCL tools.
